POC, incubation, industrialization... How France Télévisions collaborates with national and international start-up to develop new products and services
Since the great success of the 2021 edition, France Télévisions's Ideas Incubator is back! France Televisions is launching this fourth edition in partnership with Radio France and RTBF. This competition aims to promote initiatives, encourage creativity and innovation! Building on the lessons learned from the previous season, France Télévisions is structuring and consolidating its intrapreneurship program by challenging employees to innovate on the theme "Connected to Youth".
For several years now, the France Televisions group has been aiming to position itself as a pioneering player in media innovation and transformation. In this context, one of the levers activated by the group's Digital Direction via the Innovation Department is the establishment of an Open Innovation Unit.
The pollution generated by the development of new digital technologies and the evolution of digital uses now represents 4% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, with a very significant growth rate of 9% per year . This dynamic is mainly driven by the digital transformation of all industries and has been reinforced by the COVID crisis.
In the context of our partnership with the Euratech incubator, France Televisions supports media founders in their start-up creation. Today we interview Nicolas Dubusse and Axel Bouffart from Play’Ads which aims at revolutionizing the advertising market through gaming. The latter are sponsored by France Télévisions Publicité (France Télévisions advertising department) represented by Thomas Luisetti (Digital strategy and Technological innovation director) who gives us his insights on Play’Ads business perspectives at the end of the article.
France Télévisions is joining a new incubation program aimed at fostering innovative solutions. These innovations may be editorial, technical, or operational.
How do you see the future of France TV?
On the occasion of the 6th Start-up and Innovation Summit, Delphine Ernotte-Cunci, CEO of France Télévisions, announced the launch of a partnership between France Télévisions and YouM3dia, EuraTechnologies' media start-up incubator. Launched in September 2020 in partnership with Challenges and ESJ Lille, this initiative supports innovative projects in the media industry that promote editorial (new formats. etc.), technical (AI, blockchain, Green IT, etc.) and functional (targeting, personalisation, interactivity, new advertising experiences, etc.) solutions that guarantee the reliability of information, and optimise audience engagement and experience. This year, it is welcoming its third batch of entrepreneurs. Thanks to the involvement of France's leading broadcaster for the second edition of the programme, entrepreneurs incubated at YouM3dia can now access support from France Télévisions' innovation experts.
Within the context of the acceleration of media transformation due to Covid-19 crisis, France Télévisions structures its Open Innovation activity to capitalize on a rich innovation ecosystem at regional, national and international scales.
blaEveryone knows it: it is now essential for a company to communicate effectively with its audience on different media and in different formats.
These solutions, which contribute to the transformation of the company, can impact our video editing activities, but also advertising offers, training, production or distribution of content, including audio, communication, etc.
Adapting platforms to new technologies and audience expectations, developing a digital culture in the company, drawing inspiration in particular from the working methods of start-ups - open, agile, participative -, disseminating innovation throughout the company, these are just some of the reasons why the media have a vested interest in partnering with start-ups.
France Télévisions is committed to helping start-ups and innovative SMEs to give them the keys to understanding public markets through video tutorials.
