RGLab, the annual R&D event of France Télévisions at the heart of the Roland-Garros tournament
Every year at Roland-Garros, France’s leading media group presents the RGLab — a space for discovering technological innovations. It’s the result of a long-term vision and sustained effort by France Télévisions’ Digital Innovation Department.
In line with its commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the media field, the Innovation Department of France Télévisions, in collaboration with the French Tennis Federation (FFT), presented its 2024 edition of RGLAB on the theme of "Tennis and Spatial Computing," featuring mixed reality, 3D, virtual production, and artificial intelligence.
For almost 20 years, Roland Garros has provided France Télévisions with an ideal playground for testing the innovative uses and technologies that will shape the television of the future. This year, the Innovation Department, in partnership with the French Tennis Federation, is offering an RGLab on the theme of "Immersive Tennis and AI".
The Digital Department of France Televisions, with the Sports Department, has proposed a new test of Immersive Social Space dedicated to Roland Garros and the universe of Stade 2.
France Télévisions once again chooses the French Open to test the innovations of the television of the future. During this fall edition, France Televisions, in partnership with the French Tennis Federation, shares its vision of tomorrow's uses materialized by spectacular and unprecedented experiments around "Augmented Tennis" within the RGLAB on the site of the international tournament from September 27 to October 11, 2020.
How do you see the future of France TV?
IA, 8K, 5G and VR, these innovations are in two characters, but they should not be relied upon. Their potential is rich and often complementary. At any rate, this is what France Télévisions is keen to demonstrate, on the occasion of the fortnight of Roland-Garros 2018 on the terrace of the Media-TV Zone, by offering visitors the possibility of contemplating 8K images, chatting with a voice assistant or living a new RV experience, while witnessing the first steps of 5G.
